WELCOME TO THE STADTMUSEUM RAPPERSWIL-JONA

The new Stadtmuseum is located in the picturesque old town near St. John’s Church and the castle. Following the renovation in 2011/12, it now features a unique ensemble of three buildings. The towering new wing called Janus with its striking perforated facade made of architectural bronze serves as an entrance foyer and connects the Breny House from 1492 with the mighty medieval tower.

With its collection of historical objects, the museum sees itself as the cultural memory of the town and its people. Its eighteen atmospheric rooms present 800 years of town history and culture in Rapperswil-Jona. Periodic temporary exhibitions and events make the museum an appealing magnet for the regional population, schools, families and tourists.

The Stadtmuseum is funded by the local community and the City of Rapperswil-Jona.
